Payment Methods accepted:   Cash, Check, Money Order or Certified Check. Credit/Debit Cards are not accepted at this time.

Tax Collector Hours at Municipal Building – the Tax Collector will be available at the Municipal Building to receive tax payments on the 1st Monday of each month, 6:00pm-7:00pm or by appointment. Closed holidays. If the Tax Collector cancels hours for a particular day a notice will be placed on the office door.

When paying in person during tax collector hours, a tax receipt will be given if requested. No payments will be taken in person at the tax collector’s home. When paying by mail, tax receipts will only be sent when taxpayer includes a self-addressed stamped envelope with their receipt request. No receipts will be mailed without a self-addressed stamped envelope.

PAYING ON TIME:
Due to reporting schedules set forth by Fayette County and the Uniontown Area School District, real estate and per capita tax payments received after the 1st of the month will either be added to the following month’s tax report or returned to you — depending on the tax period in effect at the time of receipt.

COUNTY & BOROUGH Taxes

*DISCOUNT Period: March 1 – April 30
Payments received on or after May 1 must pay the Face amount (thru June 30).

*FACE Period: May 1 – June 30
Payments received on or after July 1 must pay the Penalty amount.

*PENALTY Period: AFTER June 30
Payments received after December 31 will be returned to the taxpayer.

SCHOOL Taxes

*DISCOUNT Period: August 1 – September 30
Payments received on or after October 1 must pay the Face amount (thru Nov 30).

*FACE Period: October 1 – November 30
Payments received on or after December 1 must pay the Penalty amount.

*PENALTY Period: AFTER December 1
Payments received after December 31 will be returned to the taxpayer.

INCORRECT PAYMENTS WILL BE RETURNED * LATE PAYMENTS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED
PARTIAL PAYMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED

FEES: 

Anyone wishing to have duplicate copies of their tax bills from the Tax Collector, must pay a $2 fee/per bill in advance. Copies will be sent to, or may be picked up by, requester within two (2) business days of receipt of payment.

A $25 fee will be charged for all NSF checks. Taxpayers who bounce a check with the tax collector will be required to pay with cash, money order or certified check for all taxes for the next two (2) years.

Banks, attorneys, tax service agencies and  other financial institutions or individuals needing a tax certification letter must fill out an application and pay a $20 fee in advance. Tax certifications will be sent within two (2) business days of receipt of payment.

•The Tax Collector cannot collect prior years’ real estate taxes. Taxpayers wanting to pay delinquent taxes must contact the Fayette County Tax Assessment Office*

•To make changes to taxpayer information as listed on real estate tax bills, property owners must contact the Fayette County Assessment Office. Tax Collector is not permitted to make name/address changes since this information comes directly from the property owner’s deed.

•Per Capita tax corrections must be made with the Tax Collector
